An original adaptation of the famous vampire legend
The production is loosely inspired by Bram Stoker’s novel and its visual narrative focuses on the story of Lucy and her struggle against her inner demon, which is portrayed by Dracula. Dracula here represents domination and the creation of dependence on a destructive force. It’s a phantasmagorical universe that Lucy has built, immersed herself in, and is fighting against.
Plexus Polaire is a theater company of French-Norwegian origin, founded and artistically directed by Yngvild Aspeli, director, actress and puppeteer. The use of life-size puppets has become the core of her current production work.
The company has six productions in its repertoire, all directed by Yngvild Aspeli: Signals (2011), Opéra Opaque (2013), Ashes (2014), Chambre noire (2017), Moby Dick (2020) and Dracula. Lucy’s Dream (2022). They are currently working on an adaptation of A Doll’s House, which will premiere in the fall of 2023.
